Dramatic satellite images have captured Hurricane Ida’s trail of destruction in Louisiana – as the death toll from the powerful storm reportedly rose to six Wednesday.

The before-and-after images by Maxar Technologies’ WorldView-2 satellite from Tuesday show ravaged communities such as Houma, Jean Lafitte and La Place, according to Space.com.

Meanwhile, the death toll from Ida rose to six after officials confirmed that two electrical workers in Alabama who were repairing power grid damage have died, NBC News reported.

James Banner, senior VP at Pike Electric, confirmed to the network that the two workers were killed in the community of Adger in Jefferson County.

On Wednesday, evacuees who fled before the storm slammed southern Louisiana were being urged not to return home yet – three days after the Category 4 hurricane came ashore.

More than a million homes and businesses remained without electricity Wednesday and utility company Entergy Corp. warned it may take weeks to restore service in some areas, Reuters reported.
