The images taken by the probe’s Amal’s Emirates Mars Ultraviolet Spectrometer (EMUS) instrument are revolutionary.

The Emirates Mars Mission’s (EMM) Hope Probe, on Wednesday, released the first global images of Mars in the far-ultraviolet providing new understanding into the distinct aurora phenomenon.

On seeing the beautiful pictures of this unique phenomenon in Mars’ nightside atmosphere, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE tweeted, “I do not swear by the twilight, the night and its overflow, and the moon if it is consistent.”

For the first time in human history, the Hope Probe-the first Arab-Islamic probe –depicts the phenomenon of the Discrete Aurora on the Red Planet … Let us open up new horizons for humanity to study this divine cosmic phenomenon.”

The unique pictures thus show an ethereal glow known as the discrete aurora depicting the phenomenon of an invisible twilight.

The images taken by the Al Amal’s Emirates Mars Ultraviolet Spectrometer (EMUS) instrument will help human understanding of the interactions between solar radiation, the red planet’s magnetic fields and its atmosphere.

This comes after the Hope Probe commenced its two-year science mission recently and has begun its science data gathering.

The probe is set to yield the first complete picture of Mars’ lower and upper atmospheres throughout the day, night and seasons of a full Martian year.
