President Biden and first lady Jill Biden on Sunday attended the confirmation of their 14-year-old grandson Robert Hunter Biden II — the son of the late Beau Biden.
The service took place at around 2 p.m. at St. Joseph on the Brandywine, the Biden family’s longtime church in Wilmington, Delaware, the White House told reporters.
After the ceremony, the president and his wife, their newly-confirmed grandson — who goes by “Hunter,” the name of his uncle — and members of the extended Biden clan spent time outside taking photos and chatting.
The first lady was then spotted taking a bouquet of flowers to the side of the church where their family graves are located, including that of Beau, Joe Biden’s eldest child, who died in 2015 from brain cancer. The rest of the family then appeared to join her at the gravesite.
Biden spent the weekend in Delaware, and on Saturday hit the links at the Wilmington Country Club for the first golf game of his presidency.
He teed off with advisor Steve Ricchetti and Ron Olivere, the father of Hallie Biden, who is the widow of Beau and mother to Hunter Jr. — as well as former lover of Hunter Biden, the president’s scandal-scarred younger son.
