Dr. Robert Lesslie in Rock Hill, S.C. Authorities say a gunman, identified as former NFL player Phillip Adams, killed Lesslie, his wife and grandchildren on April 7, 2021 in Rock Hill.

The South Carolina doctor slain by former NFL player Phillip Adams penned a chilling essay about the day he “departs this body” shortly before the mass shooting — describing heaven as a “perfect” place where he will stroll alongside his wife.

Dr. Robert Lesslie, 70, shared the post with the administrator of the site where he often blogged shortly before he was killed along with three relatives at his home in Rock Hill, according to a post Thursday on his Facebook page.

“One day, when I depart this body and find myself in the presence of the Lord, my time, however it will be measured, will be filled with the praises and the wonder of Jesus,” Lesslie wrote.

“I know that I will once again be able to hug my mother and walk and talk with my father. There are a lot of people I want to see as well — family and friends, grandparents, some of whom I never met on this side.”

He said that he will seek out Jesus’ disciples Peter and John as well as “other giants of the faith” whose “words and deeds have guided and molded” have molded him.

“We have no idea what Heaven will look like, only that it will be perfect,” he wrote.

“And because of that I know that one day, when I’ve experienced the presence and joy of that surrounding host of saints, I will find myself walking with Barbara in a field of lush, green grass, surrounded by gently rising conifer-cloaked hills,” he said referring to his wife, 69, who was also killed in the shooting Wednesday at their home.
