UAE Covid vaccine: 93,199 residents vaccinated in 24 hours - News

Vaccines being administered in UAE are effective and already yielding results.

The UAE has vaccinated 93,199 residents against Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

The country’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) said the total doses administered now stands at 5.76 million. This takes the rate of doses per 100 people to 58.25.

The Covid vaccines being administered in the country are effective and are already yielding results. The country’s active Covid cases have slipped below the 8,000 mark, thanks to the vaccines.

Also, a 26-year-old vaccinated doctor in Dubai had what could be the “quickest” recovery from the virus. After testing positive on February 13, it took her only six days to get two negative test results.

Close to 3.5 million residents vaccinated

Over 3.48 million UAE residents have received the Covid-19 vaccine, a top official said on Tuesday. This constitutes about 44.89 per cent of the “target”, according to Dr Farida Al Hosni, official spokesperson for the UAE health sector.

More importantly, 57.66 per cent of residents aged over 60 years old have received the jab.

Meanwhile, the Sharjah Municipality has announced that workers at food establishments must take a PCR Covid test every two weeks. Fully vaccinated workers are exempted from the requirement.
